The article " Do We Have the Courage to Stop This?", by Nicholas D. Kristof is about people thinking the real reason why that people die so much is because of guns and that they should make regulations about owning a gun. As said in the article there has been around 300 Americans dying a year from ladders, and guns 30,000. According to David Hemenway, children ages 5 to 14 in America is 13 times more likely to be murdered with guns as children in other industrialized countries.
This article is informal because this is something that I feel deeply about. I fear for my younger sisters that the could get shot because crazy people getting out of hand with a gun. If the government don't do something about this problem, us people in our community will. I don't want to wake up anymore knowing that my sisters and me might not be safe.
This reminds me of the time that I didn't clean my room. My mom told me to clean it before it got worst, but me being an disrespectful child, I didn't want to listen and by the end of the week I got in trouble because my roon was terrible and I knew I should have cleaned it at the beginning of the week when it was.t the dirty, but that was my fault and that's what the government should to before the problem get's worse.
This is sad and it helped me understand how important my life is and now I know that I should look out for me and my sisters before a problem like this get's out of hand.

Low water levels on Mississippi threatens shipping
The article "Low water levels on Mississippi threatens shipping", by Jim Salter and Jim Suhr, is about the Mississippi river getting to shallow and the boats won't be able to pass through just as the harvest heads to the market. Rick Calhoun, head of the marine operations says that we shuoldn't just wait or it'll get worst. "You can't just wait until it shuts down and suddenly say, there's a problem. Experts say that if the river is closed for a long time economic loses could go up to billions of dollars. Don Sweeney, an associate director says, " the longer it lasts, the worst it gets." He also says,"it's inevitable that it will mean higher prices down the road."
This article was great, I really enjoyed reading it, it was something that infromed me and got my attention right away. It got to the point in the first part and it ended it off with something good. I really liked it!
This reminds me of a time where my friends mother had a financial problem and she wasn't really doing anything about it and by the end of the month it got into something bad and she lost her house. This was something that should have got to in the first place and now I miss my friend. This is something the government should be trying to fix before they have the same problem.
I wonder if someone is trying harder to fix the problem because this is becoming a big one. I guess I should look farther into it.

The article "Nestle Blames Biofuels for High Food Prices", by James Melik, is about the world's largest food producer believes that high prices are due to growing of crops for biofuels. Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe believes that prices for cheap food is over. "The time of cheap food prices is over", says chairman. He also believes that biofuels are only affordable because of the high subsides. " It is absolutely unacceptable and cannot be justified, there is one demand that I have, and that is not to use food for fuel."
The article is not something that really caught my eye, I just thought that the article would be good to inform me. I kinda got what they was talking about and it kinda was informing because this ins't something that I normally think is an issue. But is was good to find it out.
This is a problem on it's own, I can't really get in to telling a part in my life that reminds me of this. All I can do is try to help solve the problem and hope that nothing goes wrong do to this situation.
Some questions that I would asks is: could there be something that people can do for this situation? or can someone try to fix it? I don't really know but if there's someone that can tell me please let me know.

The article "Marijuana law just creates criminals", by Hakeem Jeffries is about people getting arrested for having the possession of marijuana and it's creating more criminals. People were arrested because they were caught carrying a small amounts of marijuana. "More that 50,000 people in 2011 were arrested in New York City for possessing small amounts of marijuana." Poeple were arrested and charged because they had a possession of marijuana. "Thousands of people are then arrested and charged with with misdemeanor possession, punishable by up to three months in jail and a 500$ fine.
I believe that's outrages because things like this shouldn't happen and get out of control. So many people had to get arrested because of marijuana and I believe that the government should take out marijuana and only give it to people who need it because that's unbelievable.
I don't think that none of my life experiences could add up to this because this is dead wrong. Peoples families are being teared apart because of this situation, jobs are being lost and it's all because of this marijuana. What could people do to stop this? Is there something that I can do or our community?
This article was surprising and really informing. I really didn't know that these things were going on. I wonder how people feel about this? Is this something that's killing america? These are questions I would soon wanted to be answered.

The article by Ted Gregory called " Sould 16-year-olds drive?", is about what ages to let teens get their driving lessons. Some people do and don't agree on whether they should. Institute President Adrian Lund believes not because of car crashes every year. " We're still losing a lot of teens on the road each year." Lots of other people believe that it's no big deal and that they're be fine. " I don't think it matters what age you are," the Hinsdale Central High School sophmore said, "as lond as you have the practice and experience."
I believe the same, people teens can drive at sixteen only if they are really qualified. I don't relly think it matters what age they are because not all teens are bad on the road. They are just like adults because not all adults are qualified to be on the road despite their ages. Before I read this article, I did't know what to think, but now I do and I think that teens diserve to get their driver's license.
This is just like the time when I went to the amusement park with my family and they said that I was to young to play throwing the balls, I thought that was mean because I could actually throw good despite my age so I really didn't care. I thought that was rude and that I was good at it. But now I can't play so that a bummer.
This article really didn't make me think deeply about this topic because I already knew that people was thinking about it that way so it didn't really affect me. But, I must wonder why people act like this like adults don't do it either so it really didn't matter.

The article by Peter Mucha,"Yay!Boo!So?Reactions To Obama Win Vary", is about many different opinions that came out of the presidential election. For example there were people who didn't like either one of the candidate. " I'm a little bit disappointed. I wasn't really happy with either candidate," said Marty Brenna, a 49 year-old boilermaker from Laurel Springs. But, other people have different opinions and think that this was great. " i'm thrilled to death," said Barbera Drucker, " I would have never voted for Romney for womens issue's alone.". There were also people who were dissapointed about the election. A man named Len Burkhardt said that he would rather have a bussinessman like Mitt Romney than Obama because he is "not as fiscally smart or fiscally responsible."
I believe that everyone is entitled to their own oponion and alot of people can't do anything to change that. I believe that this topic is interesting because I will get to know how everyone feels about it so I can have a better point of view of it..
This reminds me of the time that we were voting for class president, everyone had their own person that they were going to vote for. Alot of people were going to be disappointed because not everyone was going to win. I got to see how people reacted and some people were angry, some were happy and others really didn't care, it was a scramble but it was good to know how everyone felt.
This article really didn't change me deeply because I already knew that people were going to feel this way about the election and that some people weren't going to like it, but I loved it and I felt this way because he is the first black president and I feel close to him and I voted for him because he provides Obama care for those who don't have it and I feel as though he is taking of his people and that he cares for us and I'm happy for obama because I know how did good and some people might not think that but I do.

The main idea of the article '' Will Climate Change Get Some Respect Now?'', by Nicholis D. Kristof, is about scientist believing that rising carbon admissions could make extreme weather, like Hurricane Sandy more common.According to William Solecki, the co-chairman of the New York City Panel On Climate Change believes that another hurricane could happen, he said, ''You can't say any one single event is reflective of climate change. But it's illistrative of the conditions and events and scenarios that we expect with climate change.'' A collaborations of federal agencies from the United States Global Change Research Program, believes that climate chandge could increase. They say, '' The intensity of these storms is likely to increase in this century.''
I believe this article is a little misunderstanding but I through it and understood more. This is an important topic because people need to know before the problem get's worst and we would't be able to fix the problem.A solution to this problem is that I believe that people should lower on gas and stop polluting the air before the problem get's worst.
This article reminds me of a time I told a lie and when I kept putting lies on to it, it got worst and it wind up getting me into more trouble and i punished. So it would be good to just fix the problem before it get's worst.
But I wonder if there is a way that everyone could help the problem be resolved.Could people use a different type of oil, is there a different type of oil that doesn't pollute the air?Would people even want to the help the problem? I guess that i'll just have to dig a little deeper.

The article, written by RICHARD PEREZ-PENA,''Studies Find More Students Cheating, With The High Achievers No Exception'', is based on cheating in schools all over the country. Most of the students are cheating off the internet.Their plagiarizsing and cheating off of other peoples work on the internet.Studies also show that a study by Jefferey A. Roberts and David Wasieleski at Duquesne University learned that the more tools online that the college students get to use to complete an assignment, the more frequently they were to copy off others. But in overall the people just don't blame the students they blame the parents and the schools too. They think that the parents and the schools aren't doing thier jobs in educating the students. In a way to all this I would rather get a bad grade and then get help with it, then to copy off my class mates.
I believe that maybe there shouldn't be any cheating because how are you suppose to learn if your cheating off of an class mate.Do your best and try hard.I believe this topic is understanging, I know from the begining what it was about and it incouraged me to read on because this is something that I can relate to and understand. The author made it clear what he was talking about and I understood completely.
I have friends who would rather cheat then to make mistakes and then ask for help so they can learn more and next time they would know what to do.But not me I am more cofident to do it myself than to copy off of someone else.I don't need to do some thing like that because so many people incourage me.And that's a big difference.
I believe this article is helped me more deeply because know I know that some people in the world might need some help and I can help them, now that I know.I guess the world is in major help and all we have to do is work together and help.I realized that now I can stop using school as a game and use it as and opportunity to get to have a good future.

The article ''Attention Disorder or Not, Pills to Help in School'', by Alan Schwarz, is about doctors giving A.D.H.D pills to low income students in low income schools to help them become more focused in school. While some people believe that giving the pills to the students is wrong because the pills are addictive and students may could get sick or have an overdose.Dr. Anderson, a pediatrician for many unwealthy families, believe that they can give the student something that could help them more academically than changing their school and home environment for without being to expensive. He says, ''We've dicided asa a society that it's too expensive to change the kid's environment. So we have to change the kid.'' Dr. William Graf, a pediatrician and child neurologist who serves many poor parents, believe that giving the children the pills could affect their development. He says, '' These children are still in the developmental phase, and we still don't know how these drugs biologically affect the developing brain.''
I think this article is informing because people need to know before it gets out of hand and wind up hurting or poisoning chilgren. This article changed my perspective of the title because I thought that the title was about teachers druging students in class in secret so they wouldn't tell their parents. But instead it was about doctors giving pills to low income students in low income schools to help boost their focus in class.I believe there is a solution to the problem, maybe some people should help the people in need of help by having fun raisers and bake sales so that families who afford tutors can get one.
If I ever had a problem where I needed more help in school and a doctor came to my home and gave me a pill to help me academically, I would take it because it would give me more of a chance to pay attention in class. But, I wouldn't take it because I could get sick or have an overdose.Like in the article Dr. William Graf said that takink these pill could bioligically affect their developing brain and I agree.
This article help me think deeply about the topic because now I know what people have been doing in the world and try to help prevent it because people are dying and getting sick everyday and we should help prevent it.We could help the world be a better place.
I wonder if there's anyone already trying to help, is anyone informing people about this?Is there a person in the world who cares enough to help? Questions I am curious enough to answer.

CITY 'I' NEW PHONE BOOTHS
As i examined the article ''City 'I' New Phone Booths'', by Annie Karni, i found that the main idea is that she found that there are free touch screen technology so that you can find information abut nearby resturaunts, store sales, traffic updates, landmark information and safety alerts-in many different laguages. By pressing an on screen icon , it will take users to 311 online to make complaints or find out information about a city. According to City24x7, franchisee people who installs the smart screens, they will be more sanitary than ATM's. The screens will cost the city nothing and will bring revenue via advertising. I thought of this article because it caught my eye and it look interesting so I started reading. It's very important because now people because now people found an easy way to ake a phone call and know what city your in without the hassle. For example people can get to see their tax refunds and will be able to see what type of free park events are happening or are going to happen. This article reminds me of a situation i was was once in, my school had just got new laptops for the 6th, 7th and 8th graders at the time and i was happy because no more we did we have to hassle to get our work done.We could print ,type, and go on online games to help us with our work.I was very happy and excited.I believe this article helped so many people because the government gave society a better way to check their email adresses and gave tourist a way to find out information about the city they're in and let them know where specific places are such as resturants, parks and hopspots. This article made me think if the government is going to improve things,i wonder. I guess i'm just going to have to wait and see.

The main idea from the article by: Katie Hafner called ''Texting May Take A Toll'', is that most teens in 2008 were sending over 80 texts messages a day.Which caused teens to not work hard in class and fail also, it caused a problem in adolescents development. According to the Nelson Company.
Sherry Turkle, a psychologist at Massechusetts Institute of Technology, has studied that teens in the Boston area (which she studied at for three years) said that texting might be causing a problem in the way adolescents develop. She says, '' among the jobs of adolescence are to separate from your parents, and to find the peace and quiet to become the person you decide you want to be.'' She also says, '' texting hits directly at both those jobs.''
A reporter named Greg Hardesty from Lake Forest, California, says that his 13-year-old daughter, Reina, sent up to 14,528 texts in one month. She would be able to keep her phone when she goes to bed and waits for a yext to come in. He wroye an article about her in the newspaper, The Orange Count Register and since then her volume increased to 24,000 text messages a month. Then her parents toke her phone and ever since her grades has improved and she got her phone back.
My opinion is that maybe her parents should be more responsible (as well as the teen) and take their phone or give them a limit to texting. When I text on my phone I get my phone tooken by my mother at 8:oo because when I used to text alot, my mother took my phone because I was failing in class and my mother decided to do something about it, and ever since I've been doing good.
